A list of Some Appropriate Prepositions

P
Parallel to (সমান)—This road is parallel to that.
Part from (a person), with (a thing) ( বিদায় নেয়া)—He parted from his friend. She parted with the ring.
Partial to (পক্ষপাতী) —He is partial to his son.
Partiality for (পক্ষপাতী) —He has no Partiality for his son.
Pass away (মারা যাওয়া)—He passed away last night.
Persist in (লেগে থাকা)—He persisted in disturbing me.
Penalty for- অপরাধের কারনে শাস্তি; ধরে অর্থে with- He has paid the penalty for his crime with five years in prison.
Pity for (করুণা)—Have pity for the poor.

Play on (বাজানো)—He played on guitar.
Plead with (a person) for or against (something) (কারও পক্ষে কথা বলা)
pleaded with him for justice (against the wrong done to me).
Pleased with (a person), at (something) (সন্তুষ্ট)I am pleased with him. I am pleased at the news.
Polite in, to (নম্র)—He is polite in his manners, (polite to strangers )
Poor in (spirit) (দূর্বj)—Don't be poor in spirit.
Popular with (জনপ্রিয়) —He is popular with all for his behaviour.
Prefer (one) to (another) (বেশী পছন্দ করা)—I prefer coffee to tea.
Preferable to (বেশী পছন্দনীয়)—Death is preferable to dishonour.
Prejudice against- অকারণে কোনো কিছুর প্রতি অপছন্দ- An ignorant person has prejudice against new ideas.
Preside over (সভাপতিত্ব করা)—He presided over the meeting.
Pretend to (ভান করা)—He does not pretend to high birth.
Prevent (one) from (doing something)( রোধ করা) — I prevented him from going there.
Pride (oneself) on, (অহংকার করা) —He prides himself on his high birth.
(Take) pride in (অহংকার করা) —He takes pride in his high birth.
Proud of (গর্বিত)—He is proud of his position.
Prior to (পূর্বে)-Prior to that, he was in a wretched condition.
Prohibit from (বাধা দেয়া)—I prohibited him from going there.
Prompt in(answers) (চটপটে)—He is prompt in his answers.
Prompt at (figures) (চটপটে)— He is prompt at figures.
Prone to (ঝোক/প্রবণতা)—He is prone to idleness.
Proportionate to (অনুপাতে)—Punishment should be proportionate to offence.
Provide against (evil days), for (children), with (a thing)( প্রদান করা)-You must provide against evil days for your children.I provide (supply) him with food.

Refer to (নির্দেশ করা) —Refer the matter to him for enquiry.
Rejoice at, in (উল্লাস করা) —Every one rejoiced at (in) her success.
Relevant to (প্রাসঙ্গিক) —Your remark is not relevant to the point.
Rely on (নির্ভর করা) — You can rely on him.
Remedy for (পরিত্রাণ) — There is no remedy for this disease.
Remind (one) of (a thing)—( মনে করানো)  I reminded him of his promise.
Render into  (পরিবর্তন করা) —Render the passage into Hindi.
Repentant for কোন ব্যক্তি বা কাজের জন্য অনুতপ্ত- You should be repentant for your misdeeds.
Replace (one thing) with another (স্থানান্তর করা) —Replace this chair with a new one.
Require (a thing) of (a person)- প্রয়োজন —I required a loan of him.
Resign (oneself) to (ত্যাগ করা) —l resigned myself to fate.
(In) respect of (in point of)( বিবেচনায়) —He is junior to me in respect of service.
(with) respect to (বিবেচনায়) —We are talking with respect to that matter.
Respond to (সাড়া দেয়া)-Nobody responded to my call.
Responsible to (an authority) for (an action) — ( দায়ী)He is responsible to the committee for his action.
Rest with, upon (নির্ভর করা) —The whole matter rests upon you. I rest upon your promise.
Restore to ( জমা করা) —Restore his property to him.
Restrict to (সীমাবদ্ধ)-Admission was restricted to students.
Retire from, on (অবসর নেয়া)- He retired from service on a pension.
Rich in (সমৃদ্ধ)-Bihar is rich in minerals.
Rid of (মুক্তি পাওয়া) —Get rid of bad company.
Rob of (ডাকাতি করা) —Somebody robbed him of his purse.

Sanguine of (আশাবাদী) —She is sanguine of her success.
Satisfied with, of (সন্তুষ্ট) —I am satisfied with him. I am satisfied of the truth.
Satisfaction in, with (সন্তুষ্ট) —1 find satisfaction in gardening. Great was his satisfaction with her result.
Search for (অনুসন্ধান) —Their search for the thing was of no avail.
(In) search of (অনুসন্ধানে) —They are in search of a nice bird.
Sensible of (সতর্ক)-She is sensible of the risk.
Sensitive to (সতর্ক)-She is sensitive to cold.
Sentence to, for (সতর্ক) —He was sentenced to death for murder.
Senior to (বড়) —He is senior to me by four years. I am senior to him in service.
Send for (ডেকে পাঠানো) —Send for a doctor immediately.
Sick of, for (অসুস্থ) —I am sick of  fever. I am sick of this idle life. He is sick for home.
Similar to (একই) —This pen is similar to that.
Sink in (mud), into (the sea, river etc.) (নিমজ্জিত) — He sank in mud. The ship sank into the sea.
Slow of (speech), at (figures), in (doing something)( ধীর) — He is slow of speech. He is slow at figures. He is slow in writing.
Smell of (ঘ্রান লওয়া) —This glass smells of wine.
Smile on (হাসানো) — Fortune smiled on him.
Stare at (এক পলোকে তাকানো) — She stared at me.
Stick to (লেগে থাকা) — He sticks to his decision.
Subject to (অধীন) —This is subject to approval of the committee.
Succeed in (জয়ী হওয়া) —He will succeed in life.
Suffer from (ভোগা) —He is suffering from fever.
Superior to (উন্নত) —This type of rice is superior to that.
Supply (a person)with(a thing), ) — (সরবরাহ করা) He supplied us with food.
Supply to( a person)-( সরবরাহ করা) —He supplied food to us.
Sure of (নিশ্চিত) —I am sure of success.
Sympathy for (সহানুভূতি) — I have no sympathy for him.
