AT/IN 'At' refers to an act/point. Examples I will meet you at the airport. Smith stood at the end of the lane. 'In' refers to a big area. I live in New York. Keep important documents in your pocket/bag. BETWEEN/AMONG (AMONGST) 'Between' is used to differentiate - two persons / things or show the positions / distance. The bottle is in the cabinet over the sink. UNDER / BELOW / BENEATH / UNDERNEATH 'Under' is used for vertically below. Examples We had lunch under the tree. The letter is under your blue book. 'Below' is used for lower than. The production figures are below average. He got below 50% marks. 'Beneath' can be used in the same ways as under and below, but is a more literary or formal word. The Child soiled the bed sheet beneath. we live beneath the same roof. 'Underneath' shows the lower position. The key is kept underneath the carpet.
